VEG AND SALAD LINES TO WATCH (BUY WITH CAUTION)
Sweet Potato – The rains are here….. Due to rain in Queensland growing regions Sweet Potatoes are SCARCE! They look to be for at least another week.
Berries – Blueberry quality and supply is excellent. Make the most of the great season we are having.
Mulberries have hit the market, super sweet, delicious and sure to take a few baby boomers back to the golden years where these delicious berries filled their front yards! As they have just hit, prices are firm, but the quality is good.
Strawberries are all over the shop, there are a few good varieties on offer, however, these are far outweighed with average fruit. Be cautious when buying Strawberries this week. Here is your “hot tip”; smell the punnet, you want a floral Strawberry smell, if you can’t smell anything, chances are you can’t taste anything. Look to see if the fruit is bright, firm and not at the end of its life, also look at bottom of punnet that there is no “juice” from damaged berries.
Golden Kiwi – Great supply, quality, size and flavour excellent!
Pineapple – Fantastic quality and flavour, Tops on are our picks at the moment for value and flavour!
Stonefruits – Mangoes are a yes! Get these in your box this week. Now “popping the big question” is it time for peaches and nectarines? The answer is yes, however, I would say buy with caution! I personally ate my weight in both peaches and nectarines this morning, there were a few moments of greatness and many let downs. We will start supply this week and pick the best of whats on offer after our daily tasting!
Mandarins – They aren’t done yet, fruit is still excellent!
FRUITS TO WATCH (AVOID BUYING or BUY WITH CAUTION)
Blood Oranges – Finishing up, they are on their way …….
