BEST FRUITS

To Cherry or not to Cherry?  For now, we are saying flavour, size and value aren’t there…. There is fruit in the market, we just don’t think it is good enough to eat … Stay tuned! Next week could be the week.

Peaches – Yellow peaches are in good supply, it’s early season fruit and deeper flavour varieties will hit the market in coming weeks.

Berries – We have a had larger than expected volumes hit the market this week, meaning more variety and better prices are on offer! There is cheaper fruit from WA, we are leaving this behind, it will not last very long. The pick of the Strawberries is NEW SEASON Victorian Strawberries! Some QLD Blueberries were hammered by the rains this week, you will most likely see these in the chain stores on special. Delicious Blueberries that were sheltered from the rain will command higher prices, however, the quality is excellent!!!!!

Rockmelons and Watermelon – Quality, Flavour and Value ticking all the boxes.

Mangoes – Keep them rolling! We have just seen some early arrivals of fruit from Mareeba arguably the best region for Mangoes in Aus! So it is a great week for Mangoes!

Nectarines – There is good fruit available if buying based on value Peaches pose as a better value option.

FRUITS TO WATCH (AVOID BUYING or BUY WITH CAUTION)

Cheap berries – There is ALOT of inferior quality fruit in the market this week! Be wary of cheaper Strawberries and Blueberries, its cheap for a reason – rain or short expected shelf life! Buyer beware!

Mandarins are finishing up – Quality is still pretty good, however, we will be pulling the pin, thanks to all the growers for a fantastic season!
