VEGGIES to buy
Beetroots – Big winner this week, size and value is awesome! Roast them up and have a delicious, economical and super healthy salad! Great option to make bulk for work lunches! Maybe even soak up a few of the Xmas drinks!
Cauliflower – Supply remains steady, prices are great, why not try this delicious seasonal recipe below. Great Xmas day salad idea.
Corn – Local corn has just started, perfect for the summer BBQ and also for the environment as it’s grown within 50km of Sydney Markets.
Kale – With broccoli prices super high, Kale is a great option for your green dosage this week.
Truss tomatoes – Quality is excellent as is price, perfect for your Summer salads.
BEST VEG AND SALAD LINES
Beetroots (bunches and loose), Cabbages, Carrots, Cauliflower, Heirlooms Dutch (Mixed Colours), Tomatoes (Cherry truss and truss), Cos Lettuce, Kale, Potatoes (Baby Chat and Kipfler), Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Zucchinis.
VEG AND SALAD LINES TO WATCH (BUY WITH CAUTION)
Broccoli – I personally think it’s too hot for the old broccoli, however, the market doesn’t, prices are super firm, I say buy if you must. If you’re happy to look at an alternative go with kale, broccolini or a bunch of spinach.
FRUITS to buy
Berries – In general berries are shaping up pretty well, except the old Strawberry!
Strawberries – The rains smashed some farmers, so you will get what you pay for, good strawberries (premium varieties) will be on the firmer side price-wise, however, they are delicious and will last. Value line Strawberries are around, however, will only last a couple of days.
Blueberries – Lots of fruit hitting the market this week, good week for blues!
Blackberries, Boysenberries and Raspberries – Yas! There is a bounty of colours and varieties hitting the floors! Quality and prices are goooood! Get on any of these this week!
Mangoes – Mangoes are all time, our fruit this week is actually “tree-ripened”, rather than picking them green and then ripening. I think these guys are the mangoes of the year! They are a must!
Peaches and Nectarines – Fruit seems to have improved after last weeks psycho weather. Quality and supply are good!
Rockmelon and Watermelon – Supply is very good for rockies! Watermelon has improved this week! Great news 30 degree days and a slice of watermelon go hand in hand!
FRUITS TO WATCH (AVOID BUYING or BUY WITH CAUTION)
Strawberries – Buy premium berries only, is my recommendation. Otherwise, it’s the old two steps forward one step back. Save $2, but your berries won’t last…..
SEAFOOD AND MEAT MARKETS
Seafood and Fish – Blue eye cod is fish of the week this week, don’t miss it! Super delicious firm white fish! Its a must 2 fillets only $14.95
Poultry – Free range chicken breast and Tenderloin remain great value, Real Free Range breasts only $14 p/kg
