2018 Our Year In Review!

2018 Our Year In Review!

I think it’s important to take the time to reflect on the year that was. To celebrate all achievements big or small, to understand what needs improvement and to praise those who made it happen!

Like most things, I will start from the beginning.

Jan 2018 started with a bang and set the tone for a great year for Delish.  We closed for a short break after the crazy Christmas rush and were back on board early Jan, eager to get the year started. Last year we reached our goal for over 200KG prawns delivered at Christmas and in true Jaeger style he has set the target early on to reach 500KG this year.

In February we kicked off the annual 6-week challenge with our good friends at Tribe Social Fitness. We love sharing our passion for healthy eating with the like-minded members of Tribe and the support from the Trainers and Mark is always next to none.

March was the busiest month to date for Delish! After hearing the very sad and shocking news that Aussie Farmers Direct went into administration, leaving hundreds of Franchisees across the country jobless overnight. As you can imagine this news really hit home and made us more determined to continue to support our Aussie Farmers. To provide a better choice than the supermarket for fresh produce.

Jaeger and I often looked to AFD for inspiration on how we could improve and grow and after speaking with a few of the local ex AFD Franchisees we decided to join forces and introduce their customers to Delish.

It hasn’t been easy, but customers have found a new home here at Delish and we are so grateful to have them. We were extremely excited to bring the AFD boys into the Delish family, who between them cover all of Greater Sydney. We have always wanted our team to be invested in the happiness of our customers. These guys cherish and value each client. They put customer satisfaction first. It’s the perfect match with our business. I don’t know how we survived without them!

On May 11th I officially became Mrs Delish as Jaeger and I tied the knot on a farm property 2 hours North of Sydney. The day was filled with a few of our favourite things; Family, Friends, Food and lots of Dancing! Below is a sneak preview of the day, but if you’re interested in more you can watch our wedding video online here.

We were lucky enough to head on a two-week foodie adventure to Japan.

For the first time ever Jaeger and I were able to switch off – I don’t think I checked my emails once! None of which would have been possible without a few very important people. It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t give them a special mention here! My Dad – Gary, showed up to the warehouse every day to lend a hand with whatever was needed. Louise, who was thrown in the deep-end having only been with Delish for 6 weeks, handled it like a pro. Laura, Carmel and Nancy for making sure the warehouse hummed! And the rest of the warehouse team for ALWAYS getting the job done, for being pickier than Jaeger with quality control and doing it with a smile. You guys are the real heroes of Delish 🙂

The next few months were spent getting to know our new customers from AFD and sourcing new product ranges to help fulfil their grocery needs. One of the biggest requests we had was a full dairy range. Sourcing new products isn’t something we take lightly, it needs to make sense for us and be in line with our core values. After many hours of researching, we were very proud to announce our partnership with Norco – A 100% Australian Farmer Owned Dairy Co-operative. The co-op works for their farmers — meaning everything stays in the community. So, when you buy a bottle of Norco-branded milk, you are 100% supporting Norco dairy farmers!

In November, along with Your Local Green Grocer we took part in the Million Dollar Mango competition. These competitions are a good way to remind everyone the real purpose of YLGG. They are run to reward you, the regular shoppers who support local and help protect the future of Aussie Farmers and the independent retailers, by choosing to make their purchases outside the major supermarket chains. Buying local is giving back – lending a hand to the young family who run the business or supporting a third-generation farmer to get back on their feet. We were lucky enough to have one of the ten finalists on the day at the Sydney Market Annual Cherry Auctions. Rose Rowlson shares a passion for fresh, healthy food. It was so lovely to spend time with Rose and we look forward to sharing more from her next year.

This brings us to December and another year has been and gone. SLOW DOWN!!….. While we prepare for the crazy Christmas rush, things are winding down as people tend to get away. This means we have time to set our goals for 2019. We celebrated our Annual Delish Christmas Lunch at Acre Eatery in Camperdown and it was lovely to have the team all together to show our appreciation for their hard work this year.

Behind the scenes we’ve been working on some exciting things, which we can’t wait to share with you next year.

We are so grateful for the support because without it none of this would be possible.

In lieu of thank you gifts, we decided to invest the budget into something that could dramatically change someone’s circumstances this Christmas. We will be gifting 5 complimentary orders to be delivered on Christmas Eve to families in need.

Delish will close between Dec 25th – Jan 3rd and we look forward to delivering fresh produce to your door again soon

Thanks for another Fruitful Year!!
